Gold Coast movie stunt veteran Guy Norris invited into prestigious academy

June 2018

With the TV Week Logie Awards on our doorstep, We Are Gold Coast would like to recognise our big-screen talent. Gold Coast stuntman Guy Norris has been invited to join the prestigious Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences!

The Academy alone is responsible for the Oscars each year.  Guy is the first member of the Australian Stunt Community ever to be invited to join the Academy.

Guy, who is Australia’s premiere Action Director and Stunt Coordinator is known for his ground-breaking work in the 10 times Oscar nominated “Mad Max: Fury Road”. This launched him into the international arena and reactivated a call for stunts to be formally accepted as a category at the Oscars.

To add to his name, the stunt veteran has also won awards at the prestigious Taurus Awards with Fury Road including Best Stunt Rigging, Best Stunt Coordinator / 2nd Unit Director.  He’s also been awarded Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG).

Check out this great action sequence that Guy and his team created for Fury Road…
